Truckee Meadows Community College, also known as TMCC, is a community college found in the city of Reno in the State of Nevada. The school was branch of the Western Nevada Community College from 1971 to 1979. The school’s name was based on the main area that it serviced, the Truckee Meadows area in Washoe County in Nevada. The school has over 500 full time and part time members in their faculty and staff. The school also recieves an average enrollment of over 13,000 students each semester.
TMCC's main campus, the Dandini Campus, features several student services and functions for the college and its students. This includes Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, Testing Services and several other student services. The campus also offers a several academic and occupational programs in several areas. The Dandini Campus also features the Elizabeth Sturm Library, the V. James Eardley Student Services Center, open computer laboratories, a child care Center, Academic Advisement, and academic assistance from the Tutoring and Learning Center.
Truckee Meadows Community College also offers a transfer program along with several applied technical and occupational courses and programs. These programs includes several developmental courses, such as courses in English and math that would help students take their credits and transfer to another college or university. During the 80’s students of TMCC wanted to have variety and choices in terms of the programs and courses offered by the school. This led to expansion. Aside from the main Dandini Campus, the college has also expanded and has established several satellite locations including the Meadowood Center and the college founded the IGT Technology Center, established in 1999, the Nell J. Redfield Foundation Performing Arts Center both built in 2003, as well as the TMCC High Tech Center located in Redfield, which was started in 2005.
